Shane Lowry sat in front of the media at Royal Troon today ahead of The Open tee-off on Thursday.
Perhaps the Offaly man was a little bit nervous. At one point during the press conference, he asked for the question to be repeated as he had forgotten what had been asked - 'I was waffling a bit'.
On Thursday Lowry will play with two high profile individuals - Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose. Being included in such a group along with having his own press conference is mark of how far he's come.
While relaying his belief regarding his progress, Shane Lowry dug himself into a little hole - much to the amusement of the media.
Obviously, it's great to be here and doing a press conference on a Wednesday. And I have a really good group tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to that. I can't wait. That's where I wanted to be. I've been in plenty of shitty groups over the years, so with all due respect to the golfers, I shouldn't say that, should I? (Laughter). But you know what I mean. I've been like last off and first off. I don't mean by the players I was playing with but I meant the times more so. God (laughing).
