Shane Lowry has missed the cut at the 2023 Open Championship, after shooting a round of six over par, to leave himself on seven under overall and four shots off making the projected cut.
During what was an incredibly frustrating day for him, his anger got the better of him and he ended up breaking a club over his neck.

Lowry had a challenging back nine that featured three bogeys and a double bogey. He finished on 77.
Rory McIlroy is the best of the Irish, on one under par, but he still finds himself nine back from leader Brain Harman.
"Yeah, important," said McIlroy on finishing the day under par after a birdie on the last.
"Certainly important to me. I got off to a great start. Was a couple under through 9, and then gave those shots away on two of the sort of easier holes on the course, 11 and 15. But it was nice to at least get one of them back on 18 there.
"Yeah, it played tough. It played really, really tough. 10-under par is unbelievably impressive out there. We'll see what the weekend holds. But after two days I'm actually pretty happy with my two days' work."
Harman praised his putter for his five stroke lead.
"I've had a hot putter the past couple of days so I'll try to ride it through the weekend," said the world number 26, who is bidding to become just the third left-hander to win the Claret Jug, after Bob Charles in 1963 and Phil Mickelson in 2013.
"There were several holes where it could have gone either way on the back nine. I'm fortunate to finish where I did and I'm really pleased with it."
