The top 30 players from the PGA Tour are battling it out this weekend for the largest prize fund in professional golf at the 2024 Tour Championship and Shane Lowry is right in the mix to earn a huge payday following an impressive 3rd round.
An incredible season reaches it's conclusion with the final leg held at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. A huge $25 million is on the line for whoever finishes top of the leaderboard after Sunday night's play.
This is year six of the Tour Championship’s handicapped format, to recognize players for their regular season performance, starting scores before round 1 are staggered depending on FedEx Cup standings.
World number 1 Scottie Scheffler began the 2024 Tour Championship on -10 with a two-shot lead over Xander Schauffele as a reward for his incredible six-win season. Lowry is set to scoop a huge $2,250,000 if finishing in 8th position where he currently stands in the leaderboard.
The American has shown no signs of letting that lead slip as he enters into the final round with a five shot lead over Colin Morikawa in second place. Clara native Lowry is the highest placed European golfer heading into the final round, a testament to his improvement over the last number of years on tour.

Shane Lowry On Verge Of Huge Payday After Impressive 3rd Round At PGA Tour Championship
In his first PGA Tour Championship appearance, Shane Lowry has taken to the lucrative event like a duck to water.
The Offaly man has surged up the leaderboard in his third round finishing with 7 birdies, including 5 on the back 9 to finish with an impressive 65 and 13 under going into the final round.
He's currently 8th and on the verge of a huge payday against the PGA Tour's best.
Speaking to reporters after his 3rd round, the 37-year-old understandably pinpointed 2019 as his best year on tour but acknowledges this season as next best:
I'm probably as consistent as I've ever been throughout a regular season on the PGA TOUR. So I'm pretty happy.
I think 2019 is a standout year for me, obviously for obvious reasons. But I think this season has been a close second.
Lowry will begin his final round at 17:32 Irish time and is paired with American Sam Burns.
Rory McIlroy was also in action on Saturday and is two shots behind Lowry. A three-time winner of the FedEx Cup, McIlroy carded a three-under-par 68.
Drama is guaranteed in the final round on Sunday night and let's hope Lowry is right in the mix to claim top honours.
