Shane Lowry has a habit of turning up on the biggest stage.
While he does not win as many tournaments as he would like (with his last victory coming at The Open in 2019), he is always there or thereabouts when it comes to major season.
The Offaly man has achieved a top ten finish in each of golf's flagship events, with three top-five finishes to his name since 2019. He was very much in the mix at this year's Masters, eventually coming third.
It seems that few others in the sport are as consistent as the 35-year old in this regard, something that is backed up by the stats.
Shane Lowry continues stunning major record
By making the cut in this week's PGA Championship, Shane Lowry extended his record of the longest current active streak of cuts made in majors. His mark of 12 consecutive tournaments, stretching back to the 2019 PGA Championship, is the lengthiest in all of golf.
Following rounds of 70-72, Shane Lowry (currently T45) is poised to extend the longest active streak of cuts made in major championships to 12. His streak dates to a T8 at the 2019 PGA Championship.

It certainly points to the his consistency on the biggest stage.
Jon Rahm in the closest to Lowry, having 11 consecutive cuts made. They are the only players in double figures.

While Lowry did make the weekend at the PGA Championship, his chances of lifting the trophy this weekend did suffer quite the blow in the second half of his round.
Having fired himself into contention having gone -2 in his first nine holes, a +4 back nine (including a double-bogey on his 13th hole) meant he was 11 shots off the lead before today's third round.
Even if his second major triumph does not come this week, this sort of consistency should ensure that Lowry will have opportunities to add to his Open title in the years ahead. You couldn't argue that he wouldn't deserve it.
