Shane Lowry is fresh off a superb opening round at the Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour, after an opening round of six under par today, to leave himself in a tie for fourth and just two shots off leader Keegan Bradley.
A top-3 finish or even a win this week would do wonders for what has been a fairly average 2023 so far for the Clara man, that has seen him move down six places in the world rankings, with his best finish being a top-5 at the Honda Classic.
However, the summer has generally been kind to Lowry, with his two biggest wins (2015 WGC Bridgestone Invitational, and the 2019 Open Championship) coming July and August.
Despite his generally average form this year, an interesting stat emerged from Twitter, put together by CBS' Kyle Porter, and showed that he has been sneakily consistent in this year's major championship.
Taking the overall scores from players who have made the cut at all three of the Masters, PGA Championship, and US Open, Lowry is tied-9th, on one under par.
Above him in the list are the very best in the game in Morikawa, Smith, Schauffle, Cantlay, Rahm, Hovland, with Scheffler and Kopeka tied for the lead on 18 under par.
It shows Lowry's big game temperament and bodes well with Open, the Irish Open, and the Ryder Cup on the horizon.

With McIlroy, Lowry, and Power competing in the Travelers Championship, Belfast's Tom McKibbin is taking part in the DP World Tour's BMW International Open.
McKibbin posted a promising first round score of four under par, to leave himself two shots off the lead, in his first tournament since winning the European Open.
"It’s huge as it’s not easy to win out here on any tour,” Lowry said of McKibbin after his win.
“Like I said, Tom’s had a lot of pressure heaped on him since a young age about being the next Rory McIlroy.
“That can’t be easy as Rory McIlroy is one of the greatest golfers of all time. I would say he’s not far off from living up to being the next Rory but I would not be putting him in the same bracket, as yet. He’s 20 years of age and he has a long way to go.”
