Shane Lowry made history with a superb hole-in-one at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday, just hours after compatriot Rory McIlroy had delivered the same.
The Pro-Am has brought a star-studded field to California and one of the world's most famous links courses. It was a happy Thursday for both the Irish stars competing.
Early on Thursday, Rory McIlroy delivered an exquisite ace on the 15th hole at Spyglass Hill. It was only his second ever on the PGA Tour and landed in extremely satisfying 'slam dunk' style.

It was a memorable moment and left McIlroy within touching distance of the leaders.
Amazingly, it would not be the last hole-in-one for an Irish player on Thursday.
A few hours later, Shane Lowry would deliver a superb ace of his own on the famous 7th hole at Pebble Beach and delivered some brilliantly energetic celebrations.
First Rory McIlroy.

It was only the third hole-in-one of Lowry's career - but the trio of aces he has delivered are a remarkable bunch.

Shane Lowry completes a hat-trick of hole-in-ones with Pebble Beach ace
To go with the iconic 7th at Pebble Beach, Shane Lowry's other two career aces came at the 16th at Augusta (at the 2016 Masters) and the 17th at Sawgrass in 2022.
If you were to choose three holes to pull off such a feat at, it would be hard to make a better selection than the group Lowry has ended up with.
The Offaly man was on cloud nine after completing a famous hat-trick on Thursday but was left exasperated when asked by Sky Sports to pick his favourite of the three hole-in-ones.
Oh, God, that's like asking someone which one's their favourite child!
Look, when stuff like that happens, I've been very lucky with all the ones. There and Augusta and Sawgrass.
I don't know what to say; I guess it's just luck of the Irish or something, I don't know.
I know I'm pretty good at times, but a bit of luck every now and then is helpful, too. Hopefully I can kick on now and have a good rest of the tournament, a good rest of the week.
Most golfers would kill to have such an iconic group of aces and Shane Lowry took it in his stride in typically buoyant fashion.
He also revealed that he and Rory McIlroy planned to celebrate with a few quiet drinks - but nothing too heavy, given it was a "school night" for both of them.
Both Irishmen finished tied eighth on -6, just two shots back from leader Russell Henley.
Shane Lowry tees off at 5:01pm Irish time at Spyglass Hill on Friday, while McIlroy tees off at 5:53pm at Pebble Beach.
