Probably the best moment of the Masters Sunday to watch was Shane Lowry getting the first hole in one at Augusta in four years. What happened later with Jordan Spieth and Danny Willett was certainly interesting - but unless you enjoy watching people crumble you can't say it was pleasant viewing.
It's customary for most players to throw their ball into the crowd after a hole out from a distance - but Lowry wasn't bending to peer pressue, and know's exactly what he wants to do with that ball:
It was a nice roar. No, I wasn't giving the ball away. My last hole‑in‑one in competition my parents were there as well, actually, and it was in Dubai and I still have the ball from that. So I feel like I'll keep that one.
I feel pretty lucky to have a hole‑in‑one around this place, in this tournament. So, yeah, it's nice. I'm sure I'll get a picture somewhere and frame it in the house and it will be nice memento to have.
That probably explains why he disappointed the crowd like this:
Of course, it's not the first time that Lowry hasn't done things the way most golfers do.
