Sergio Garcia was involved in a fiery back and forth interview with reporters in Augusta after shooting a two-over par round of 74 on the opening day of The Masters.

The 2017 Masters champion had little patience for reporters when he was questioned about the tensions around the field towards the 18 LIV Golf players.

Since being suspended from PGA Tour events for playing in the Saudi backed LIV Golf League last summer, Garcia has often found himself in the middle of spats between the PGA Tour members and his colleagues at LIV.

Sergio Garcia rips into the media after opening round

Speaking after his opening round at Augusta, while wearing a LIV Golf polo, Sergio Garcia was quick to inform the media that the narrative of friction between the rival golf tours was being instigated by the press itself.

When asked about how normal it felt to be back playing at one of sport's most prestigous events, Sergio Garcia said:

Totally normal. You guys need to stop it. You guys are making a big deal out of this, and it's you guys.

When a reporter disagreed with Garcia's comment, the Spaniard continued to blame the media in front of him.

Yes, it is. I've had nothing but great things from every single player I talk to. So please stop it and talk about the Masters.

The 43-year-old then refused to answer questions on the news that broke on Thursday morning where an arbitration panel in London ruled that the DP World Tour can suspend and fine members who competed in LIV Golf tournaments.

When pressed for an answer on this subject Sergio Garcia said:

How can I talk about something I don't know?

Obviously I don't look at the news. So I don't know what happened. I'm not going to talk about something without all the information that I need. I don't want to get into (it).

Sergio Garcia's reputation has clearly been tarnished since making the controversial move over to LIV Golf and he certainly isn't helping himself with his fiery and narky interviews so far this week.
