After waiting patiently for the next big tournament after April's Masters, we are now very much in the midst of major season. Golf's next three flagship events will all be taking place over the two months, with the PGA Championship first up.
The event is taking place at Kiawah Island in South Carolina this year, the third time it has hosted the tournament. Irish fans may notice it is the venue that Padraig Harrington won his second major at back in 2007.
Rory McIlroy drew most of the attention in the buildup to this week's PGA Championship, with his win AT&T Byron Nelson meaning he was in strong form coming into the event. Unfortunately, the Holywood native would card three-over opening round.
One of the stranger moments of the round came from Colombian Sebatian Munoz. He finished on +5 for the day, with his task certainly not helped by a wayward drive on the 18th hole.
The 28-year old's first shot would somehow manage to find its way into a bin near where the spectators had been sitting.
Every golfer will have hit a rubbish tee shot in their lifetime, although Sebastian Munoz took it to a different level during the opening round of the PGA Championship.pic.twitter.com/0urnzbGYou

We've never seen anything like that before. He even gave the ball to a fan.
Unlike Happy Gilmore rules, Munoz did not play the shot from the bin. Luckily for him, he was allowed a free drop and stuck his second shot in the middle of the green.
With Munoz starting his round on the ninth hole, that drive was unfortunately a sign of things to come on his back nine. He would bogey five of those holes to find himself well down the leaderboard at the end of the day.
Canadian Corey Conners would hold a two-shot lead at the end of the day at the PGA Championship, with the likes of Brooks Koepka and Keegan Bradley in hot pursuit.
