Two weeks after competing for Ireland at the Olympics, where he finished tied for 15th, Seamus Power received some fantastic news on Sunday.
The Waterford man - whose accent sounds closer to Nashville than Tramore - tied for 11th at the Portland Open. It was enough to secure him a place on the PGA Tour for next season.

Power is ninth on the Web.com money list for 2016, having earned $209,590. The top 25 on the second tier US tour automatically get a PGA Tour card for the following season.
A huge moment for Power - who is ranked 264th in the world - was back in May when he won his first tournament on the Web.com tour - the United Leasing & Finance Championship in Indiana. Power received $108,000 for that victory, a major step towards that tour card.
Power turned pro five years ago after going to East Tennessee State University.
