When it comes to The Masters, you rarely expect the weather to be a deciding factor at the tournament. While some events, such as The Open, can often be decided by the conditions, Augusta is rarely exposed to the elements in such a manner.
This year is different. Yesterday's second round was halted on two occasions due to the weather, with the second occasion bringing a halt to the day's play. That is something that is unlikely to change today, with the heavy raining meaning that the tournament could well move into Monday depending on how much play is possible over the coming hours.
While the rain is the issue on Saturday, Friday saw a much more dangerous incident.
A handful of trees would fall around the course, most notably near the 17th hole. Here is the footage of the tree in question.
Unreal how close a couple of patrons were to getting hit by the trunk of this tree that fell at the Masters. 😱 pic.twitter.com/Mch7QtJh5D

Thankfully, nobody was injured as a result.
Seamus Power was close to falling tree at The Masters
Seamus Power was on the course during this period, with the Waterford native being aware of an incident occurring despite the fact that he himself was only on the 13th hole.
Speaking after the delayed conclusion of his second round earlier today, he said that he heard the noise from afar and initially was worried that something had happened to one of the grandstands. He was then relieved when it was confirmed that nobody had been hurt, while he could still some some remnants of the fall on the 17th hole during his round today.
We were walking up the 13th fairway and we heard the screams and it sounded like a grand stand to us, which was really strange. Everyone saw those videos last night, I'm just so happy that everyone was okay and unhurt, which was shocking.
I mean, you saw the mark on ground even across 17 there, it was, yeah, amazing that mainly that everyone's okay...
Honestly, it was pretty good (on the 17th). It was like the mark, where the trees had come up were pretty well covered, but it was obviously a dent in the ground going right across.
But it was pretty impressive the lack of, whatever you call it, imprint that was there. But it was, yeah it's amazing. I'm glad everyone's okay.
Power would ultimately card an even par 72 for his round, leaving him at +1 for the tournament. That was enough to make the cut for the second consecutive year at The Masters.
He said there have been some difficult moments over the first couple of rounds, but he is hoping to move up the leaderboard over the weekend.
It's a funny tournament so far for me, because I've done a lot of good things, but obviously the finish to the first round put me in a tough spot, especially knowing this weather was coming. But it was good to hang in there.
Obviously not where you want to be, but it's great to be in for the weekend. It's not a lot of guys on the weekend so it's definitely ground to be made up. I feel pretty good, especially my irons and shot game and stuff so we'll see what we can do.
Making only his second appearance at The Masters, making the cut on both occasions is certainly no mean feat.
Here's hoping that Power can finish strongly from this point.
