After a disastrous foursomes for Europe at the Ryder Cup, USA led 4-0. It looked ominous for Darren Clarke and his players.
The afternoon proved much better. Europe won the fourballs 3-1.
The last match saw Rory McIlroy and Thomas Pieters take on Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar.
McIlroy and Pieters won 3&2. The match finished with McIlroy sinking a 20-foot putt for an eagle, the hole and the match.
His celebration was ecstatic, one which showed how much it meant to him. McIlroy bowed in front of the crowd before unleashing a double fist pump.
"I bowed to them and said 'You're welcome for the show'"
