Rory McIlroy capped off a brilliant year personally by being awarded the PGA Tour player of the year. The Northern Irish man was rewarded for having had the lowest scoring average for the year.
McIlroy won four times in America this year and was also a key part of the dramatic Ryder Cup victory over USA. He won the money lists in both Europe and America on his way to picking up the Vardon trophy. His four wins came at The Honda Classic in March, The Deutsche Bank Championship in September and a week later he won again at the BMW Championship. His biggest victory of the year however came in South Carolina in August where he romped to an eight stroke victory in the PGA Championship, the second major of his career.
His victory was made that bit sweeter when it was a certain Tiger Woods that finished runner up in the award.
Hats off to Rors.
