With just a fortnight to go until The 2025 Masters at Augusta Rory McIlroy has dropped some worrying news for his fans after the Houston Open on Sunday.
It comes after McIlroy finished tied-5th at the Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas, finishing the tournament with a final round 64 and -15 for the tounrament, five shots off winner Min Woo Lee. Having recorded a 66 and 65 in his second and third rounds respectively, it's fair to say that had McIlroy done better than his level par 70 in the first round, he could well had been on for another PGA Tour victory this year.
The Holywood native is chasing the lucrative career slam at Augusta and after starting the year on fire with 2 PGA Tour wins, including The Players Championship he looks to be in the right form to be competing at Augusta.
Speaking with CBS Sports after his final round Rory McIlroy spoke about how he was pleased with his improvement over the week and also revealed a few little tweaks he made to his game as the week went on.
Yeah over the last 3 days' been good, I actually made a slight adjustment to my driver yesterday I went to the range and took the loft off a little bit and definitely drove the ball better today so that was a positive. Saw some putts go in so I felt as I went on during the week I got better and better, as the scores suggest so yeah it was a good week, I still feel like I've got some stuff to work on.
Yeah, overall a solid week and it's nice to have another week to get ready and fine tune my game heading into Augusta.
McIlory then dropped some worrying injury news about his right elbow when asked what would this week's prep entail as he prepared for The Masters.
I think just working on a few things, my right elbow has been bothering me a little bit so maybe get some treatment on that and make sure that's okay heading into Augusta. But yeah, I've got my coach Michael Bannon coming in tomorrow. We'll do some work and make sure everything's in good shape for a week's time.

It's obviously less than ideal for McIlroy to be dealing with an elbow injury heading into such a big tournament but he doesn't seem that phased by it. Hopefully it's just a niggle and it won't effect his game too much at Augusta.
