Shane Lowry set the tone for the Irish challenge at the unofficial fifth major - but Friday looks like it's Rory McIlroy's day so far at Sawgrass.
The former world no.1 has scorched right from the off in his second round - recording four straight birdies in his first four holes.
McIlroy struggled with his game yesterday - making only two birdies in his entire round - but a 26 foot putt at the first today set him off right.
He followed that up with an up-and-down from a greenside bunker at the par-five second to go two under.
Brimming with confidence, Rory then smashed a drive down the third - nailing his approach to within 14 feet and sinking the putt on the third.
He quickly followed that up again on the fourth, and McIlroy is flying. Playing with Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson - who has an eagle on his card already today - McIlroy has already lifted up 55 places in the leaderboard since the start of play today.
And since then it's only getting better with an eagle on his 7th (he's playing the back nine first) bringing up to -7 already.

It will be worth following the fifth major for the rest of the weekend. Rory in particular loves the back nine at Sawgrass. He's 20 shots better than anyone else on those holes since 2013.
