Rory McIlroy's season on the PGA Tour came to an end last weekend.
The reigning FedEx Cup holder finished in a tie for 58th at the BMW Championship last week. Midway through the tournament in Chicago, he sat down for over two hours with the No Laying Up Podcast.
The second part of the interview was released on Monday morning. While the 28-year-old spoke about a number of topics including breaking up with caddy JP Fitzgerald, it was the Question and Answer part of the podcast, that threw up an answer that left even presenter Chris Solomon lost for words.
CS: A lot of people out there would want to trade places with you. Is there one person out there that you would potentially want to trade lives with?
RM: A couple of years ago, I went to Coolmore Stud. They breed some of the best racehorses in the world. Their biggest stallion is a horse called Galileo. I wouldn't mind trading places with him for a week.
*Everyone laughs*
RM: He has a pretty good life, I tell you. He's loving it. That's the one specimen that came to mind.
CS: I can't believe that's where your mind went...
RM: I don't know how many mares he covers a day, but literally people will pay €500,000 a go to have a racehorse by Galileo. It's unbelievable the money the make out of this. Obviously Galileo doesn't make any money though.
Galileo retired in 2001, but has become one of the most desired stallions in recent years. Since being sent to stud in 2008, the horse has been the leading sire in eight of the last nine years.
McIlroy failed to add if he planned to go into the horse-racing business or not as an owner, despite his apparent envy of the stallion.
It's not the first time McIlroy has spoken about the horse. In 2014 he claimed he "wouldn't mind coming back" as Galileo.
