One of the dominant themes around this year's Masters at Augusta will be Rory McIlroy's pursuit of the one major that has eluded him up to now. This writer remembers one of those fluffy, Soccer-AM Sky-produced videos around the Ryder Cup, in which golfers are asked various unimportant questions about their teammates. One question was 'if you could be one of your teammates, who would you be?'. Amid all the false smiles and forced joviality, Rory McIlroy snapped into on-course mode, and said without any doubt: "Danny Willett. He has a green jacket".
But before he can obsess over the Masters, McIlroy has a couple of tournaments to play beforehand. One of those is the Arnold Palmer invitational, kicking off on Thursday.
Remembering the late Palmer, McIlroy shared the letter Palmer sent to him following the former's maiden major, the US Open Congressional in 2011:
A letter from AP after my first major. Great words of wisdom as always. Can't wait to play @APinv this week and celebrate his amazing life. pic.twitter.com/plIpZxgjtn
