Galway Golf Range pulled off a major coup when they got Rory McIlroy to turn up at their driving range in Salthill yesterday. Oddly enough, they managed to persuade him to stand slap bang in the middle of the landing area, about 150 yards from the tee boxes with his mouth ajar waiting to catch golf balls.
On closer inspection it was revealed to be the new 'Rory McIlroy Washing Machine Target' which made its debut at the Galway venue. With it's tangle of curly hair, it's remarkable feminine eyelashes, and the name "Rory" stamped on it's forehead, the machine is a touching tribute to the two-time Major winner.
The presence of the washing machine was a reference to this famous television clip from 1997. All the Driving Range was missing was a special appearance from Gerry Kelly standing beside each golfer
