It has been announced that further changes - which will be implemented for the 2024 season - will be made to the structure of PGA Tour tournaments, as they aim to continue to improve and fight off the threat of LIV Golf.
Last year, the Tour made changes to the 2023 season, which saw the introduction of elevated events and increased prize funds.
These changes have now been expanded upon, taking the 36 hole cut out of most of the elevated events.
Golfweek confirmed the news:
"The PGA Tour board on Tuesday night ratified a radical new approach for the 2024 schedule that will see reduced fields in the new designated events and the removal of the 36-hole cut.
"Fields in designated events will be reduced to between 70 and 78 players with no halfway cut. The changes will not apply to all of the elevated events— the majors, the Players Championship and the FedEx Cup playoff tournaments will be unaffected.
"Two sources familiar with the details confirmed the changes to Golfweek."
Given that some of the PGA Tour's top players have criticised LIV and its structure, which saw the removal of cuts from all its events, it does seem that despite the hatred towards the breakaway tour, it has influenced the PGA, and probably for the better.

The following extract is from an August article from Balls.ie, which goes into more detail on the changes introduced last year:
"The new enhancements to the PGA Tour will see the top players commit to 20 tournaments (assuming they qualify), including 12 elevated events, the four major championships, The Players Championship, and three other events of their choosing.
"The elevated events are Sentry Tournament of Champions, The Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play and the three FedExCup Playoffs events (FedEx St. Jude Championship, BMW Championship and TOUR Championship), and four additional events to be announced in the coming weeks."
