Paul McGinley may have been the widely lauded mastermind of Europe's Ryder Cup win last summer but what has he done recently? His brother, on the other hand, has done something quite special this week.
Michael McGinley, playing in Dubai, hit three holes-in-ones on three different holes, in six days. Some very good golfers go their entire lives without marking a 1 on the card but McGinley managed it three times in less than a week.
Two came on the Dubai Creek course, where is a member, and one at the Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth course. McGinley plays off a handicap of +1, an impressive achievement in itself.
It is an amazing feeling. I had a hole in one when I was 15 years old and haven’t had one since. To have three in six days is just incredible and something that I will definitely never forget. Achieving two holes in one in two days was something special, however the third really is unbelievable.
According to the Independent, the odds of McGinley's feat happening are 75,000,000/1, although you'd probably find it difficult to get a bookie to actually give you those odds.
