Padraig Harrington could miss next week's PGA Championship due to a knew injury he suffered while playing tennis with his kids.
Harrington played through the pain yesterday at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, with a round of 72 but the Irish Examiner reports that the injury may become too much to deal with.
The three-time major winner told reporters after his round:
I am really struggling and don’t know if I can make it through the next two rounds so we’ll see, we’ll see.
So I am not 100% sure and it will depend on how I feeling in the morning but then in the bigger picture I am also concerned about next week’s PGA Championship.
He damaged cartilage in the knee, which should warrant time off but he is still trying to battle on:
Ideally, I should be taking three weeks rest but I can’t do that this time of the year so I am staring at possibly an injection and plenty of rehab.
It would seem that even if he makes it to Whistling Straits next week, it's unlikely he'll be able to anywhere near his best.
