Rory McIlroy is going to get all the plaudits for an incredible summer of golf and rightly so. By his own high standards, he didn't even play particularly well at Valhalla before claiming his second consecutive major and his third tournament win in a row. It's an incredible feat from an incredible golfer but spare a thought for those he is leaving in his wake.
Having been within two shots of McIlroy at both the PGA and the Open Championship, Rickie Fowler has played some of the most consistent golf that he is ever likely to play. When you take into account that Fowler also finished in the top 5 at the Masters and the US Open, this stat really puts his consistency into context.
Looking back...petty cool to join @TigerWoods and @jacknicklaus as the only three to have finished top 5 in all 4 majors in the same year????

It may not be the most desirable record when you consider how many of those tournaments that Woods and Nicklaus actually won, but Fowler has time on his side and if he continues the kind of play he's shown in 2014, it will be only a matter of time before he claims his first major. (Provided McIlroy slows down a bit of course)
