A superb round of 65 helped Rory McIlroy into third place at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship this morning.
The three time major winner hit eight birdies and one bogey, his first of the tournament, to move up to 16 under par, one behind co-leaders Thomas Pieters and Ross Fisher.
Paul Dunne, put himself into contention, shooting a stunning 65. His round included seven birdies and no bogeys to put him a tie for ninth with South Africa's Dylan Frettelli, and Brandon Grace on -13.
The Wicklow man secured his first professional victory last year, winning the British Masters at Close House Golf Club, Newcastle. His victory was ever more impressive with McIlroy breathing down his neck on the final day, however Dunne secured a three stroke victory over the major winner, chipping in from the outskirts of the 18th green.
Dunne spoke to Sky Sports Nick Dougherty about his chances going into tomorrow's final round, with forecast for strong winds, the Greystones man feels he may have a slight advantage,
Dougherty: You said there that the weather is meant to change a bit tomorrow, we've had perfect weather up until this point, the wind is going to blow, is that something you would relish?
Dunne: Yeah, I mean I am more used to it than most but especially if I start five shots behind you kind of need a little weather like that to be able to pick up ground, because if the weather is good and you start five shots back, you're going to have to shoot nine or 10 under to catch the leaders, so I think it brings more people in with a chance and hopefully I can get off to a quick start.
