The 2021 Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club is currently in full swing, with some of the top names in golf getting some final reps in before The Open at Royal St George's next week.
Rory McIlroy is amongst them, with the 30-year old shooting -1 in yesterday's opening round.
He was all set to tee off for his second round today alongside Jon Rahm when we were treated to a very strange incident.
With McIlroy and Rahm standing on the tenth tee box (their first hole of the day) and waiting to get their second day's play underway, a random spectator wandered onto the tee box.
They would go on to take the driver out of McIlroy's bag and walk over to the tee as if they were lining up a drive.
The look on the players' faces was hilarious as they tried to process exactly what was going on. Unsurprisingly, the spectator was soon led away.
This is crazy, man just walks up and lifts club and headvover off Rory on tee box. Taken away by security straight away 🤷♂️ #RoryMcIlroy pic.twitter.com/nWDgxlqVJ6

Absolutely bizarre.
Speaking to the Scotsman, another spectator at the event described how the intruder nonchalantly made his way onto the tee:
He appeared on the tee, took the headcover off Rory’s driver in the bag then took out an iron and had a couple of swings with it.
When someone told him that he couldn’t do that, he replied by saying ‘why not?'
At that point, the security people assigned to following the group moved in and took him away.
The man was soon taken into police custody.
It seems McIlroy and Rahm weren't too shaken by the incident. David Wilson, who posted the footage, said:
He was quickly dealt with.
The players laughed it off, saying they knew he wasn’t a golfer when they saw his grip.
Definitely one of the stranger things we have seen at professional golf tournament.
