Despite the fact that a sizeable portion of the field did not get to finish their opening round due to the adverse weather conditions, there was no shortage of top class play during the first day of play at The Masters.

Scottie Scheffler produced some wonderful golf, carding a 66 to cement his status as the tournament favourite. Rory McIlroy remains in the mix after his round of -1, while fans were also thrilled to see Tiger Wood give a good account of himself. Tiger sits on -1, although he still has five holes of his first round left to play later today.

However, the main story of the day was Bryson DeChambeau.

The American produced some incredible shots en route to shooting a -7 round of 65. That included a run of five birdies in six holes on the back nine, something that left him sitting top of the leaderboard at the end of the day.

However, not everyone is convinced that DeChambeau will be able to maintain this level of play for the remainder of the week.

Bryson DeChambeau is leading the charge among the LIV Golf representatives at The Masters, with the likes of Tyrrell Hatton, Patrick Reed, and Cam Smith also in the mix early on.

In saying that, some have casted doubts about their ability to win the tournament. With LIV playing only 54 holes in each of their events, it will be interesting to see if the physically demanding course at Augusta will take its toll on that group.

Speaking after his opening round of -1, US Open champion Wyndham Clark said he felt that he was still very much in the mix for the green jack, going on to cast doubt about the credentials of DeChambeau and his LIV colleagues.

Yeah, we've got 54 holes. In LIV Golf they only play 54, so I like my chances.

We've got a lot of golf left. As you can see, someone shot 7-under. I could do that tomorrow...

It's really hard to make putts when it's blowing 20 and gusting. You're trying to time the putt with the gusts and then you have all this break and then you're playing wind - it's hard to make putts.

I know some guys probably did, but it's tough out there right now.

Shots fired.

While the friction between LIV Golf and PGA Tour stars has lessened somewhat in recent times, it seems as though The Masters has ensured that the competitive between the two parties has reemerged.
