Reports are coming in that Brooks Koepka is quitting the PGA Tour and joining the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series.

The Telegraph's Golf correspondent James Corrigan 'broke' the news in an exclusive report, although there were strong rumours over the past few hours after Koepka had taken the PGA Tour out of his Twitter bio.

We reported last week on Koepka's angry and frustrated press-conference answer when asked a question about LIV Golf.

Now with this news of Koepka's imminent departure from the PGA Tour, his response makes more sense now, as he was clearly contemplating the decision at the time or perhaps had his mind made up. Either way, he obviously did not want to announce anything until after the US Open, and was looking to avoid any LIV Golf related controversy.

“I don't understand. I'm trying to focus on the US Open, man," Koepka said at last week's US Open press-conference. "I legitimately don't get it. I'm tired of the conversations. I'm tired of all this stuff. Like I said, y'all are throwing a black cloud on the US Open. I think that sucks. I actually do feel bad for them for once because it's a shit situation. We're here to play, and you are talking about an event that happened last week.”

This follows the news that Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed will also be joining LIV Golf, with the next event due to take place on June 30th in Portland, which is the same weekend as the Irish Open.

Rumours are also flying around on Twitter that the likes of Colin Morikawa, Viktor Hovland, and Abraham Ancer may also be joining the new tour.

It seems the more big names who join will create a snowball effect, and if the above rumours do turn out to be true it will be a huge blow to the PGA Tour.
