LIV Golf was back this weekend for the first event of its second season, at Mayakoba in Mexico.
Charles Howell III won the main event, with Crushers GC [Bryson DeChambeau, Charles Howell III, Paul Casey, Anirban Lahiri] victorious in the team section.
None of LIV Golf's top names had much of a say in the proceedings, with Cam Smith finishing the best of the big names in a tie for sixth, while Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka finished outside the top-30.
Much of LIV Golf's first season fanfare, and interest stemming from their war with the PGA Tour, seems to have worn off, with the spectacle and quality paling in comparison to last week's Genesis Open on.
The bizarre nature of the Saudi backed tour, which often stretches the truth to hype itself up, was on full display through the words of their commentator, Irishman David Feherty, who lavished completely over-the-top praise on LIV CEO Greg Norman.
He changed the game that man did, back in the 80s and 90s. Probably the most recognisable athlete on the planet.
Naturally, commenters on Twitter kindly reminded him who was by far the most recognisable athlete during those two decades.

“An opportunity to be myself again,” said Feherty in a past interview, when asked about his reasoning for joining the break-away tour.
“It’s become more and more difficult, especially in sports broadcasting, to have any kind of character. Charles Barkely can say pretty much anything he wants, because it’s, ‘oh, that’s just Charles.’
"And it is just Charles. But I have become more and more guarded over the last few years. There are people waiting around every corner hoping to be offended by something. [Expletive] those people.”
“People that criticize are doing business with China, doing business with Russia. China, in particular, is a country where they're murdering Uyghurs left, right, and center, and their human rights record is horrendous.
"You can point to various countries throughout the world. I wouldn’t want to behave like that, but wherever golf is, good happens, and I’m hoping this will do the same thing. [LIV] has said its going to donate $100 million to area charities.”
Clearly the famously brash and humorous commentator has no problem toeing the party line.
