Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow fell short today in their pursuit of a first major title at the Women's PGA Championship in New Jersey.
Maguire, who won last week on the LPGA Tour, lead by a shot coming into the last round but produced a final scorecard of three over par to finish in a tie for 11th.
Maguire had putted beautifully on her first three days, but nothing dropped when it really mattered this evening as her challenge faded rapidly on the back nine.
Meadow, playing in the final group with Maguire, shot a round of one under par to finish in a tie for third.
There was still hope for the Antrim lady up until the last after she birdied the 17th hole, which meant an eagle on the last would have given her a play-off with the winner Ruoning Yin, but she only managed a par.

China's Yin claimed her first major championship, after coming out on top of what was a very packed leaderboard, with 6-7 golfers in serious contention at various points in the round.
The 20-year-old Yin came from three shots back at the beginning of the round to shoot a four under par 67 and finish on eight under, and one ahead of Japan's Yuka Saso.
For Maguire and Meadow, there are still three majors left this year, with the US Women's Open, the Evian Championship, and the AIG Women's Open all coming up in the months ahead.
