While everyone was losing their minds watching that incredible Kilkenny vs Waterford match at Croke Park, Jim Furyk was making golf history a couple of thousand miles away at the TPC River Highlands course in Connecticut.
Furyk shot the first ever round of 58 ever seen in the tour - and incredibly even had a missed putt on the final green which would have given him a round of 57. To put that into context for you, the PGA Tour has been running since 1929 and no one - not Jack, not Tiger or anyone - has ever recorded a round of 58 on the par 70 course.
The American was out of contention to win the tournament heading into today's action but went an incredible 10 under par after his first 11 holes to rise quickly through the leaderboard. He carded his seventh consecutive birdie at the 12th hole and his form lasted all the way to final hole.
History!
Jim Furyk shoots 58!
It's the lowest round in PGA TOUR history.
Incredible. https://t.co/mzggwHU6tT— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 7, 2016
And it could have been even better for Furyk if he had managed to drop this shot after his laser-guided approach to the final hole.
Furyk didn't win the tournament but you would suspect that what he did today will echo through the world of golf a lot more than it would had he simply finished atop the leaderboard.

An incredible achievement. It will be a LONG time before this record is broken.
