Speaking on the Barstool Sports 'Fore Play' podcast, country music star Jake Owen told of an encounter with Phil Mickelson following his match against Tiger Woods.
"I did give Phil Mickelson a lot of shit a Jordan Spieth's wedding," said Owen.
"Jordan got married in November and Phil was there.
"I'd had a few cocktails and I saw him across the room and I was like, 'I gotta go tell this guy what I think.'"
A day earlier - with a purse of $9 million on the line - Mickelson had beaten Woods in a much-hyped matchplay event. It had taken 22 holes to separate them.
I walked over to him and I was like, 'Hey Phil, you owe me fucking $29.99 for wasting four hours of my life with the shittiest golf I've ever seen. You guys hyped this whole thing up about this big match. You couldn't even make three birdies between the two of you. I want my $29.99 back and apologise to me for some shitty golf.'
Mickelson was in no mood to entertain Owen's scolding.
"He pulls out a wad out of his thing and he grabs a $100 bill and he's like, 'I won 90,000 of these yesterday. Take a 100 and go fuck yourself.'
"Right to my face, I swear."
