Putting aside the whole Rigmarole over Charlie Bird's extended holiday in Washington it is clear who has the best job in Montrose, Greg Allen the current Golf correspondent goes from fairway to green across the globe. Currently he is at Augusta reporting on how Tiger is settling back into the tour but looking back over the years it is clear that Allen is RTE's Mr Airmiles.

Here Follows a quick bio from RTE.IE

Greg Allen joined the RTÉ Radio sports department in 1984 as a presenter and reporter. By 1987, he had begun reporting on athletics and went to the Seoul Olympics in 1988 as athletics reporter and interviewer. That began an involvement with athletics which continues today. Since then he has covered five Olympic Games as radio athletics commentator. He has also covered every World Athletics Championship since 1993 and each European Athletics championship since 1990.

In 1991, Greg Allen began covering golf for RTÉ. Since then he has commentated on the six Ryder Cups, twelve British Opens, eight Masters' Tournaments at Augusta and three US Opens as well as over a hundred other tournaments both nationally and internationally.

While not in the league of Curly Davin-Power, just out of bed McCullagh or Senor Dobson when it comes to notoriety,  Allen doesn't have to mix it with the union beards in the staff canteen, instead he eats in the sun from his golden golf buggy.
