Europe are Ryder Cup champions after beating the USA at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome.
Captained by Luke Donald, the Europeans won 16 1/2 to 11 1/2, a comfortble victory despite a nerve wracking final day of singles action.
Europe had dominated the competition from early on Friday morning and did enough on Sunday to claim the win for the first time since 2018.
Despite events on the golf course not being as close as expected there was plenty of entertainment throughout particularly the drama that ensued between Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy and caddy Joe LaCava on Saturday evening, with things escalating in the car park at the end of the day.
This didn't seem to cause both teams any issues with McIlroy admitting that it fired Europe up heading into the final day.
There were jubilant scenes when the win was confirmed this afternoon with players struggling to contain their emotions.
Fans as well were also in great form throughout the three days, enjoying one of the biggest occassions in world sport.
Fan dives into water at Ryder Cup
As always one fan will always go the extra mile and this event was no exception.
A supporter let loose in the moment after Tommy Fleetwood secured the cup for Europe on the 16th green.
No sooner had the ball landed in the bottom of the cup and the fan in question was sprinting across the green before jumping into the water beside it.
It is fair to say that fans watching in Rome and at home loved the incident with one person commenting "life is for enjoyment," while someone else added their thoughts saying "this will never be beaten."

It would not be a surprise if several of Team Europe do similar as the celebrations in the Italian capital get going.
Quite a few people suggested that the fan could actually be a relation of a certain Irishman.
Why did my brain just automatically assume this was Shane Lowry’s dad? pic.twitter.com/QLcx3wApVR

This man is not related to Shane Lowry (that we know of), but he might be the only person in Rome that enjoyed the celebrations as much as the Clara native.
