He may not have won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday night, but there's no doubting that Rory McIlroy had a great year. His list of achievements this year include two majors, being an integral part of the European Ryder Cup winning team and topping golf's money list.
Colin Montgomerie has taken praise showered upon McIlroy this year to another level though. The Scot says that the 25-year-old's game right now is better than even than the golf played by Tiger Woods in his prime.
In an interview with Kicca.com, Monty said:
Tiger Woods is going to come back into the frame. Is he going to be able to get back, not just to the levels he was but better than that? Because that’s where Rory McIlroy's taken the standard of golf: to one level beyond where Tiger was.
He also speculated that McIlroy could go onto win all four of next year's majors. That would be six consecutive major wins.
If I was a gambler, which I’m not, I’d put money on that; he’s that dominant, and that good.
