Out of all of the players that moved to LIV Golf, Brooks Koepka is the probably the one that has struggled most with the decision.
He made the switch at a time when he was performing poorly and had struggled with injuries, taking the payday on offer when he felt uncertain about his ability to compete consistently at the top level. However, he has since rediscovered his best form, with reports in recent months suggesting that he held regrets over the move.
While the recent deal between the PGA Tour and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has potentially opened a door for a return to the traditional tour, it seems he is not afraid to burn some bridges with current LIV Golf colleagues.
With LIV players being split into teams to go along with individual competition, it seems that Koepka is not all that pleased with one of his stablemates.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, he launched a scathing attack on fellow Team Smash player Matthew Wolff after his poor form this season, which also included withdrawing from one tournament.
I mean, when you quit on your round, you give up and stuff like that, that's not competing.
I'm not a big fan of that. You don't work hard. It's very tough. It's very tough to have even like a team dynamic when you've got one guy that won't work, one guy is not going to give any effort, he’s going to quit on the course, break clubs, gets down, bad body language, it's very tough.
I've basically given up on him. A lot of talent, but I mean the talent's wasted.
Unsurprisingly, those comments have not gone down well.
LIV Golf teammate not happy over Brooks Koepka attack
Matthew Wolff was once viewed as one of the brightest up and coming prospects on the PGA Tour, although his form has dipped dramatically in light of his move to LIV Golf.
This attack acts as the latest blow to a golfer who has struggled both on and off the course in recent times.
In a statement after Koepka's attack, he said the comments were 'beyond disappointing' as he has continued to battle through issues with both his physical and mental health.
I read the SI interview with our captain Brooks Koepka and it was beyond disappointing to me.
When I chose to join his team in 2023, I did so with much optimism about my new home as part of Team Smash and equally as important the chance to be around and learn from a player of Brooks' stature.
Like everyone who has ever played the game at the highest level, I have had competitive moments in the past that I feel I have let myself down and even others in our new team environment.
This has been quite difficult for me. My challenges on and off the golf course with my mental health has been well documented. I deal with those challenges every day.
To hear through the media that our team leader has given up on me is heartbreaking.
It's not what a team member looks to hear from its leader, and I think we all know these comments should have been handled much differently.
It's difficult to see the relationship between the two players being mended at this point, with Koepka overstepping the mark with what was a very personal attack on someone he is meant to have a good relationship with.
