Rory McIlroy pulled off a dramatic comeback against Billy Horschel to reach the final 16 of the WGC in San Francisco. He will now play Hideki Matsuyama on Saturday evening (19:14pm Irish time) and if wins that the world number one would have another match later on in the quarter-finals (starting sometime between 10:50pm and 11:35pm Irish time).
It all could leave McIlroy with a tight schedule if he wants to make Las Vegas for Mayweather vs Pacquiao, a fight for which he has tickets. The bout is expected to start around 4.30am Irish time.
The Irishman was asked by media what his plan of action would be if he was to beat the Japanese golfer.
Go in the afternoon and try and win that match. Bring a change of clothes here, try and avoid you guys [media], not come in here, go straight to the airport.
Honestly I haven't thought that far ahead. I've just been trying to take it one match at a time. This obviously takes priority over that. We'll see what happens.
There's also a Plan B if it looks like he can't make it in time.
I'll probably try and sell my tickets and watch it on a big screen here somewhere.
