As expected, Rory McIlroy has been included in the ten strong list of nominees for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award. The Co. Down man is currently odds on to take the title with some bookmakers having him as low as 1/5 to take home the award.
McIlroy's remarkable year has seen him widely tipped to take the crown, however, Lewis Hamilton's world title win this weekend has seen him come into contention somewhat.
Jessica Bridges of Ladrokes told the Express that from the nominees announced, it is only going to be between McIlroy and Hamilton.
McIlroy and Hamilton are worthy favourites and it’s going to take a miracle to see an upset on the night. It’s a clear two-horse race but Rory’s successful summer sees him edge favouritism over Lewis. However, Hamilton’s win will be fresh in viewers’ minds, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if he manages to steal the crown.
