As a memorable and sometimes surreal Ryder Cup wrapped up yesterday, attention naturally turned to the next Ryder Cup on European soil. The tournament will be making a welcome return to Ireland after a 21-year hiatus when Adare Manor hosts the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Given the theatrics in Rome this week, there'll be massive international interest in the competition, as America will look to win its first Ryder Cup on European soil in 34 years.
Considering the infrastructural neglect that is common outside of Dublin, it's natural to wonder how will will Adare manage with the throngs who will descend on the course, and indeed the greater midwest area in September 2027.
A few Irish people in Rome this week were asking themselves the same question.

How will Adare Manor manage the magnitude of a tournament like the Ryder Cup in 2027?
All I keep thinking about going to and from the course, is how in the name of god is Adare going to cope #RyderCup pic.twitter.com/UsdzzMXZdB

While the JP McManus Pro-Am was a massive success in 2022, the Ryder Cup is another level entirely. Over 250,000 people were expected at Marco Simone over the past week.
Ireland successfully hosted the 2006 Ryder Cup at the K-Club, and a lot can be done in four years but there are some hurdles to overcome between now and 2027 in order for the tournament to run smoothly.
It's believed the government will invest over €30m in the tournament, and JP McManus is a genius for getting things done. Here are a few of the big issues that will need to be addressed between now and then.
Adare traffic concerns
Anyone who's been to or through Adare will be familiar with the gridlock on the outskirts of the village.
One infrastructural project that would prove critical to alleviating this is the Adare Bypass, which is included in the N69 Limerick-to-Foynes road plans.
The road plan finally received the go-ahead in June after being High Court complaints against it were dropped.
However, farmers in the area are still at loggerheads with the government over the details of Compulsory Purchase Orders on the land to lay the road, according to reports in July.
It's believed the bypass would reduce 80% of the traffic that passes through the village.
For this year's tournament in Rome, no private cars were allowed to enter the golf course and an extensive Park and Ride system was employed at key areas.
Something similar will surely be utilised in 2027. However Rome is a major European capital and there were multiple ways to reach the course, including train and metro.
Thinking beyond fossil fuels, one company is even hoping that flying electric taxis could be operated from Shannon Airport in 2027.
Time will tell.

2027 Ryder Cup accommodation - where will people stay?
The next question is where will people stay. Ireland is famous for its hospitality but there will be a lot of people looking for beds.
Every hotel room in the greater Limerick area will be booked up, if it isn't already.
No doubt the tournament will attract wealthy golf tourists who will want to play the nearby famous nearby links courses in Waterville, Dooks and Lahinch, to name just three.
Comfortable accommodation for large groups is already at a premium.
The website Accommodation For The Event is already full of house listings for the 2027 competition.
2027 Ryder Cup - Accommodation prices
To new visitors to the site, the prices are quite staggering. A home in mid-Kerry is available for rent for €54,000 for a seven-day period. A 5-bed house in Co. Galway can be rented for €25,000 for the week.
These prices are in keeping with the going rate on the website for homes nearby to Bethpage in Long Island, where the 2025 tournament will take place.
Factoring in inflation, house rental come September 2027 could be even more expensive.
However, Eamonn Ryan of the Irish Self-Catering Federation told the Irish Times he expects self-catering homes to cost in the range of €400-450 per night once 2027 rolls around.
2027 Ryder Cup - How to get tickets
We're still a long way off tickets for the 2027 Ryder Cup going on sale. That said, the Ryder Cup did post a 'Register Your Interest' form this morning for the event. People are asked to submit their daily budget, and there is one €1,750+ category for the very wealthy.
Ticket prices for the 2023 tournament ranged from €50 to €275 with a whole host of premium options.
We'll keep you updated as soon we get info on when tickets are going on sale for the 2027 Ryder Cup in Adare Manor.
2027 Ryder Cup weather
This is the one thing we cannot control. In 2006, the Ryder Cup proved it could cope with biblical weather, and we imagine supporters will be asked to do similar in four years' time.
