Microsoft has given fans a first look at the next Halo game at its Xbox Games Showcase event this evening.
Xbox kicked off the show with gameplay from a single player demo of the upcoming Halo title, Halo Infinite. The trailer gives fans a look at the new world player's will get to discover when the game launches this Holiday season.
343 Industries claim that this is the most ambitious campaign they have attempted so far with the series and will take place in a Halo ring seven times bigger than ever before. As well as being bigger than ever the world also looks it. The reveal showed off real-time ray tracing graphics, which users can expect to see in other titles such as Forza, and ambient wildlife and flowing grass and water as Chief drives around on a Warthog.
Unfortunately for some fans, there was no news regarding multiplayer at the reveal. Instead, 343 told fans that they can expect to hear some news about multiplayer in the coming months.
Other things of note from the trailer is the promise, of a flawless 60fps on the upcoming Series X as well as the addition of a grappling hook to Master Chiefs updated armour. In the gameplay shown to fans, Master Chief can be seen using the hook to pull objects towards him to throw at enemies, as well as using the hook to propel himself towards enemies.
The trailer also reveals that the newest addition to the Halo franchise takes place sometime after Halo 5. In the trailer, we see Chief and a pilot crash land and learn that the UNSC has almost been completely wiped out.
