Exciting news for Call of Duty and Warzone fans, as it looks like the popular battle royale game will be going back to its roots with its next big map.
Content creator and Warzone player Metaphor took to Twitter to reveal that he had seen the upcoming new Warzone map, that should launch alongside the upcoming Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 game, which is set for release later this year.
He wrote that the map will feature more urban style fighting and more buildings, and that it is 'very Verdansk like', which will come as great news to most players who miss the game's 2020 heyday.
"New Warzone map coming in MW3 looks amazing, slide cancelling is in the current build (it was also in mw2 but removed) No giant hill middle of the map, tons of buildings and pois unlike caldera, lots of areas that look memorable. I think it will be a lot of peoples fav map.
"Downtown is VERY Verdansk like, with the biggest building being "Overwatch" from MW3 dlc at the top, very reminiscent of blackouts construction site. Countdown from cod4 is also in the map. Game looks exactly like mw2 but improved, hoping they make animations smooth/faster"

Verdansk holds a special place in the hearts of gamers, who spent lockdown with their mates there, as it became a second home to them.
The next map introduced was Caldera, and it was a bit of a disappointment given its awkward topography.
Al-Mazrah was up next and split opinions with many players loving the massive Middle-Eastern setting, while others found it jarring.
The smaller and most recent map, the Amsterdam inspired Vondel, saw a return to a more Verdansk like area, with lots of similar places to the og Warzone map.
With Call of Duty Warzone Season 5 dropping on August 2, we should have a lot more details very soon.
