The first look at FIFA 21 on next gen has been revealed today, with EA promising the most authentic and in-depth football simulation ever created.
EA's Frostbite engine comes in its own on the next generation of consoles, with loading times swifter than ever and gameplay drenched in realism. This realism even falls into improved player fidelity, including 'flexing muscles after strikes and strand-based hair on some of the top footballers'.
The creation of the brand new EA Sports GameCam allows for increased immersion, with EA utilising aspects of top level football broadcasts from around the world to create a further level of authenticity. This, coupled with improved dynamic lighting, creates additional realism.
Furthermore, pre-game shots of fans rushing through the turnstiles and team buses outside the stadium showcase that football, in its premier simulation and in real life, is so much more than just what happens on the pitch.
This additional touches, from shots of players adjusting their shin pads to the thousands of fan chants collated by EA, heighten the sense of realism that was the overarching objective of the game.
This was echoed by Aaron McHardy, an Executive Producer for EA SPORTS FIFA, who noted that his team wanted to "deliver a new level of authenticity that will immerse players in the game like never before when they step out onto the virtual pitch in FIFA 21.”
He added that the move to next gen was key in order to create that authenticity that EA Sports FIFA had been striving for.
"The technology behind these next generation consoles opens up a world of possibilities for how players will experience the world’s game this year and into the future.”
FIFA 21 is out on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 4. Thanks to Duel Entitlement, if you buy FIFA 21 now for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, you can transfer your game over to the next generation of consoles for free.
Players can also take their VOLTA and FUT clubs over and back across consoles through cross-platform markets.
