A Canadian website appears to have inadvertently leaked a yet-to-be-announced updated PS5 controller.
Sony's most recent gaming console has had the same controller ever since launching in 2020. Though it is a major upgrade on the widely-panned PS4 controller during gameplay, its six-hour battery life can be frustratingly low for players who enjoy prolonged gaming sessions.
It seems as though - if the leaks are to be believed - the second generation of PS5 controllers is set to fix that bugbear.

New PS5 DualSense V2 controllers leaked
Canadian website BestBuy appeared to inadvertently list the DualSense V2 controller for sale earlier this week, and the product description teases an increase in battery life.
The listed battery life for the second generation of PS5 controller is 12 hours - double what the original model is capable of. The description of the controller on BestBuy reads:
Exceptional 12-hour battery life, on a full charge, supports long gaming sessions.
New #ps5 #dualsense controller (V2) is listed at best buy.
The selling point here is a 12 hour battery life for longer gaming sessions. Seems pricing remains the same as the original pad. Nothing announced officially yet. https://t.co/rMyG3ju3t5 pic.twitter.com/SHOLuUXK6M— RedGamingTech (@RedGamingTech) January 11, 2024
Any upgrade to the original PS5 controller hardware is yet to be formally announced or even teased by SONY or any PlayStation reps, but this seems like a solid indicator that we will be getting a new edition, just over three years into the console's lifespan.
The PS5 did get a second model of controller early last year, with the release of the DualSense Edge controller. The Edge controller featured replaceable stick modules, and options to remap some of the controller's schematics.
SONY has recently released a second edition of the PS5, known as the PlayStation 5 Slim. The slim model launched in November 2023.
No doubt PS5 gamers will be eagerly awaiting a response from SONY as to whether the reports of a second generation DualSense controller are to be believed.
