In its first seven days, the game accrued a whopping 25 million players and quickly became the most popular streaming game on Twitch, with 254,973 viewers. Is Apex Legends free to play?

Yes. It's not hard to see how this has helped in the incredible growth of the game, as Apex Legends followed in the footsteps of Fortnite by making the game free to play for everyone. Similar to Fortnite, it offers paid microtransactions for cosmetics items, such as extra characters, player banners etc. as well as Apex Packs, that contain an array of random items.
In terms of how the game works, players are put into teams of three and dropped on an island. 20 teams take each other, with the last surviving team declared the winner. While players land with no weapons, they quickly have to loot guns, grenades, shields and other items. Unlike other Battle Royale games, each character has a set of unique abilities, depending on which one you choose to play as. There are also respawn machines dotted across the map, meaning that even if you die you can be brought back to life, should a teammate collect your 'banner' on time and successful deliver you to one of the respawn points.
Does Apex Legends have crossplay?
At the moment the game is available on Microsoft Windows, PS4 and Xbox One. It's does not support cross-platrform play but their are plans to introduce the feature in the future. Lead producer, Drew McCoy, recently told Euro Gamer that the developer 'plans to allow players to play with their friends on other platforms.' They are also hoping to bring the game to mobile and Nintendo Switch but again, this is not going to happen straight away.

Is Apex Legends actually good?
It certainly takes a bit of getting used to but our early review would be that it definitely is a refreshing take on a genre that was quickly beginning to get a little tiresome. The variety of characters and the fact that when you're die you're not definitely is definitely something we're enjoying, given that we tend to die a lot!
