Warner Bros. Issue Disappointing Update On Upcoming Harry Potter Quidditch Game

Despite the massive success - both critically and commercially - of Hogwarts Legacy, there was disappointment that Quidditch, one of the most beloved elements of the Harry Potter universe, was not included.

With last year's announcement of the upcoming online multiplayer game, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, it became clear why there was not much effort to have the wizarding sport in Hogwarts Legacy, or to have it available as DLC.

None the less, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is what fans will be getting, and initial news and development looked promising with the availability of play tests for the game.

Latest News On Harry Potter Quidditch Game

Since these play tests were announced, further news have been scarce, with the latest, coming from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad, providing no major updates

“We don’t have any particular announcements on exactly how and when [the Quidditch game] is going to come to the market," Haddad said in an interview with Variety.

But we are working to get it designed in a way just to delight fans.

So far, Windows is the only platform that has been confirmed for the game, as fans still wait on a release date.

The most promising news from Haddad, while slim, was further confirmation of a "series" of other Harry Potter related content that "will let the fans be part of this world and stories and characters in deeper and deeper ways".

Hogwarts Legacy was also the best selling game of 2023, shipping more than 22 million copies, a feat which Haddad also touched upon in his interview.

“But it’s not just the unit sold that I’m so proud of, it’s just that it delighted the fans so much. It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story.

"And that’s what the team at Avalanche set out to do when they were developing the game and I think that’s really why it resonated so well and remains the best-selling game of the year in the entire industry worldwide.

"That’s a position that typically is held by one of these incumbent’s sequel games and we’re so proud that we’ve been able to break into the top ranks.”
