A former developer on Rockstar Games' iconic Grand Theft Auto series has revealed that a blog he set up with insider info on the behind-the-scenes processes on GTA and other games did not go down well with current staff members at the studio.
GTA is, of course, big news at the moment, after Rockstar confirmed that a first teaser trailer for the sixth installment in the series will launch next month - over ten years since GTA V was released in September 2013.
One man who worked on several of the previous iterations of GTA is Obbe Vermeij, who previously worked for the Scottish-based Rockstar North on both the Grand Theft Auto series and other games from the Rockstar catalogue.
In recent weeks, Vermeij set up a blog to share some insider stories on the development process of Rockstar Games - though he has now taken the blog down after the site did not go down well with staff still at Rockstar North.

Ex-GTA developer reveals his insider blog did not go down well with Rockstar
InsideRockstarNorth kicked off life on November 11, with Obbe Vermeij hoping to give some insight into the process behind games like Grand Theft Auto and others in the Rockstar catalogue, including new information about the collapsed development of Agent.
However, in a statement on the blog on Wednesday titled 'Sorry you missed it,' Vermeij revealed that some of the "OGs" at Rockstar North had gotten in touch to share their displeasure with the revelations being shared on the blog, and that he would be removing some of the previous posts from the site:
Today (22 Nov 2023) I got an email from R*North.
Apparently some of the OG's there are upset by my blog. I genuinely didn't think anyone would mind me talking about 20 year old games but I was wrong. Something about ruining the Rockstar mystique or something.
This blog isn't important enough to me to piss off my former colleagues in Edinburgh so I'm winding it down.
Vermeij would go on to post on X (Twitter) late on Tuesday night to clarify that he had not been "forced" to take down the blog, but had done so of his own volition after being informed of staff members' displeasure with the posts.
Hey Benny. Not forced. It was just a former colleague letting me know that several people in North didn't like the Blog. That's all.

Rockstar are going to have a battle on their hands to keep things under wraps when it comes to the upcoming release of GTA 6, with several major leaks preceding the first trailer being released.
