This is exactly what we needed.
Being stuck in self-isolation has meant that there are a lot of idle hands dotted around. Some have taken to DIY, some have tried out new hobbies, and others, such as us here at Balls.ie, have been trying to get better at FIFA.
There's no shame in our game and now EA have come out and given us a brand new campaign to sink our teeth into on FIFA Ultimate Team.
For players of the game, FUT Birthday should be no surprise. The annual campaign usually earmarks standard superstar players and FUT favourites and gives them stats boosts. However, this year it's a little bit different.
Players will receive targeted upgrades to help players become go-tos for the FUT player base. For the first time, FUT Birthday has brought in skill move upgrades and weak foot upgrades. The usual generous stat upgrades have also returned. Some players receive skill move and stat upgrades while others receive weak foot and stat upgrades.
The rationale behind this move is to lead to an increased diversity of player types in FUT squads.
There will be two teams of FUT Birthday cards released in packs each week, with some cards coming through Squad Building Challenges and Objectives.
The highlight of the first batch of players include 94-rated Kylian Mbappe, 94-rated Eden Hazard, 90-rated Marcus Rashford and 88-rated Moussa Sissoko.
The players are available from 6pm GMT on March 27.
