FIFA 23 has been out for just over a week and as predicted, it is extremely popular. One of the most exciting new features in FIFA 23 is the introduction of 'power shots', a tricky yet rewarding skill if you get it right. Sounds easy enough right? Well the power shot is proving to be difficult to master but has some insane results if you know what you're doing.
Here is how to master power shots on FIFA 23.
How to do power shots on FIFA 23
What controls to use for power shots on FIFA 23
To attempt a power shot, you will simply need to hold down L1 and R1 (LB and RB on Xbox) as you shoot, holding down Circle or B. However, the reason why it's so hard to master the power shot is because of the manual aim.
Unlike normal, assisted shots on FIFA, power shots are completely manual and require you to aim at the goal yourself using the Left Stick. It sounds easy enough, but power shots are proving to be rather difficult for players of FIFA 23:

How to perform power shots
In order to perform successful power shots on FIFA 23 there are a few important steps.
Firstly, you will want to use a player with a high long shot, shot power and finishing statistics. Players like Messi, Ronaldo and Haaland are perfect examples of who to use to master the power shot.
Secondly, your player will need plenty of time and space to 'charge up' their shot. The animation is slow for power shots on FIFA 23 and cannot be altered, therefore you will need space to execute your shot before a defender comes along. You should not attempt a power shot in a crowded box.
When it comes to loading up your power, typically aim for three bars in order to execute a power shot. Your power will depend on your distance from goal but typically, three bars should do the job.
The most difficult step is aiming your shot. With no shot assists, your power shot can easily go wrong if your aim is off. However, we advise you to aim the left stick towards the centre of the goal as you charge up your shot, then move the left stick slightly towards the side you are aiming for as your player kicks the ball. And voila:

How to cancel power shots on FIFA 23
Another handy trick is cancelling your power shot through a fake pass or through ball. The power shot animation is slow, and therefore gives time for defenders to dive in and make a tackle. If you time it right, you can lure the defence out of position and cancel your power shot by either performing a fake pass or a through ball, sending you or your teammate through on goal.
