Before the days of online play, career mode was the be all and end all for most FIFA enthusiasts. There was something very satisfying in taking over a team and crafting it in your own image. While the mode is not as popular as it once was, will we see any major changes to FIFA 23 career mode?
Of course, this part of the title can be played in a number of different ways.
You can create your own player, starting out at a club as a youth prospect before rising through the ranks to become one of the biggest stars in the world.
Many people prefer the management side of the game. There, you create your own manager to take over a team. You pick the team, alter the training schedule, and decide on all transfer in and out of the club. You can also choose to play the game yourself, or simulate them.
That is all well-known by now, but you can expect to see a couple of big changes for FIFA 23 career mode.
Some big changes arriving for FIFA 23 career mode
The first comes via your choice of manager.
Whereas gamers were previously limited to creating their own coach and using them in the game, they will now have the option to control some of the biggest names in management.
You will be able to control the likes of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, helping them build their legacy.
Whereas it previously felt a bit strange to see Klopp out of a job if you wanted to manage Liverpool, this will now no longer be an issue. Of course, it also offers you the opportunity to bring a manager of choice to your favourite team.

The other big change comes with the opportunity to only play big moments within games.
Previously, players could sim or play games as they chose, or do a dynamic sim where they could jump into a game at a moment of their choice.
They new option is called 'playable highlights', which will see the AI automatically bring you in for big moments in the game, such as promising attacks or important defensive plays. The amount of each play you take part in will be dictated by the respective strengths of the teams involved.
If you prefer to leave the defending to somebody else, you can also choose to only be involved at the other end of the pitch. In player career, you can also choose to only be brought in for the highlights involving your player.
This should give gamers a bit more variety in their approach to career mode.
There will also be other additions for those who do a player career, including the ability to shape your player's personality as well taking part in activities away from the pitch and added dynamic cinematic moments for milestone achievements in your career.
In all, it should add a little bit more dynamism to career mode.
