10 Irish Players Who Are Definitely Due An Upgrade On FIFA 17

It's almost time for the latest EA SPORTS FIFA title to be unleashed on our social lives, and we've been seeing the leaked ratings for Europe's elite over the past few weeks.

But so far we have only seen the rating for one Irish player, Aiden McGeady.

McGeady's overall rating will be 75, which means he has dropped 1 overall rating point despite a terrible year, and we know this because he was announced as one of the few players in the game who will have five-star skills.

We reckon Aiden can count himself lucky to hold on to that 75+ rating, but there are a number of updates that absolutely have to be made, and we'll be kicking up a stink if they are not.

Robbie Brady

Having been given a ridiculous rating of 65 to start last season, Brady was upped to 70 in the January update, but it'll not acceptable at all. A 75 minimum is what we are demanding, as to claim that Aiden McGeady is a better player would have you shipped off to a mental institution if someone heard you say it out loud.

Harry Arter

We're not asking for a huge upgrade, just one to kick him above 75 to make him a gold card on Ultimate Team, which is reasonable for a player who did so well in the Premier League last season.

Jeff Hendrick

This time last year a 71 rating was acceptable for Jeff, but not anymore. Over the past 12 months he has come on so much that we want to see him given a big boost. Hopefully EA Sports' scouts were watching the Euros.

Alan Judge

An absolute certainty for an upgrade is Alan Judge, who was in several EA Sports Team Of The Week squads last year and turned heads in the Championship with his performances for Brentford. 69 is far too low, 74 minimum.

Cyrus Christie

Another player who has come on leaps and bounds is Cyrus 'The Virus' Christie, who marked FIFA 17 cover star Marco Reus out of the game at the Aviva which should be enough to get him up over 70.

Darren Randolph

Goalkeeper ratings will be much higher on FIFA 17, as we have seen by Thibaut Courtois being rated 89 overall despite a crap year for him. Big Darren simply must get a boost, we're hoping for a 75 to give Ireland a gold keeper in Ultimate Team.

Daryl Horgan

On FIFA 16, Richie Towell was the highest rated League of Ireland player at 66, so hopefully Dundalk's European run was enough for Daryl Horgan to get some love from EA Sports.

Could be at least a 70 comfortably.

Jon Walters

It may not be likely, but we'd love to see big Jon get a bit more love. Every year they say the emphasis has shifted away from pace, so prove it by giving this tank a boost.

Callum O'Dowda

Snapped up by Bristol City after a breakout year for Oxford, the Ireland U21 star can expect to be given a big stat increase, and we're looking forward to seeing his potential in career mode too.

Jack Byrne

There's absolutely not chance that Byrne has the same stats. 57 meant that he wasn't much use for League of Ireland teams in career mode, so hopefully all of his stats are pushed higher this time out.
