With preparations for the 2024 Formula One season underway, car launch dates being set, and pre-season testing being added to calendars across the world, we're taking a look ahead to what we're hoping to see in the F1 24 game.
In a lot of ways, F1 23 was a big step up on its two next-gen (well, now current-gen) predecessors. Its new features were generally welcomed by fans, it brought back well-liked aspects of previous games, and the handling model with the new generation of cars was tighter than it had been on F1 22.
There are a few new features, however, that we believe could push forward the next entry in the Formula 1 series.
Below is our breakdown of four additions we'd like to see in F1 24.

Four things we want added to F1 24
Classic cars and tracks to return
Retro F1 cars are a feature that has graced many previous entries in the series of Formula 1 games, most recently in F1 2019, which was particularly heavy on classics from the careers of Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna.
We'd love not only to see some classics like the Ferrari F2004, McLaren M23 or even our own Jordan 191 in the game - but we'd also love a return to the one-off addition of classic tracks from F1 2013.
Four classic tracks were added to the 2013 game - Brands Hatch, Estoril, Jerez, and Imola (which is now back on the real-world calendar). We broke down some of the retro circuits we wanted added to the game back in 2022 - and we're still holding out hope for new additions nearly two years later.
The new F1 sprint race format
The addition of the sprint race format to F1 22 was a welcome one to reflect the real world of Formula 1, and it was retained for F1 23.
It's a fun way to spice up a race weekend, even in Grand Prix mode - but the developers were unfortunate last year that the real-world format changed as the game was entering the finishing stages.

The changes made saw an additional qualifying session to set the grid order for the GP, meaning an end to the previous arrangement which saw the grid on Sunday set by the finishing order of Saturday's race. Especially in the game, it means more competitive sessions across the weekend, and we're all for anything which would see the F1 24 game closer reflect real-world affairs.
More legendary drivers in career mode
One of the most fun game modes on the F1 series is the 'My Team' mode which sees the player create an 11th grid on the team and try to develop their car to Formula 1 world championship glory.
In the game mode, drivers can choose to either sign up-and-coming F2 drivers as their teammates, or legends of the sport. We would love to see more names from Formula 1 history added to this roster in F1 24, as well as drivers who have retired in recent years, to spice up the potential options on the grid.

Formula 3
The final inclusion we'd love to see in F1 24 is another tier of racing below F2.
Though we'd be lying if we said we used Formula 2 too much in Grand Prix mode, it is a terrific feature to have in career mode, and in the game's 'Braking Point' story mode.
Given the hopes we hold that we may see some young Irish talent in F3 in the coming years, we'd be delighted to see the feeder series added for F1 24.
