The EFAI Cup is set to get underway this Thursday evening, with PS5 players the length and breadth of the country competing to be Ireland's next top EA FC25 player.
With eSports now more popular than ever, Virgin Media's sponsorship of the FAI's Esports programme is opening up competitive gaming to regular players across Ireland.

The competition, which will pit Irish FC 25 players against each other is open to all Irish residents over the age of sixteen who have a PlayStation 5 and FC 25.
Starting at 6:30 pm on the 16th of January, the initial stage of the competition will be played online across two weeks, with players vying to make the final four.
The final four gamers will then qualify for an in-person final the week after the competition ends, with the overall winner claiming the Virgin Media EFAI Cup.

Speaking after the tournament was created in 2023, the FAI's commercial director Sean Kavanagh revealed his hope that the cup would open up the association's Esports programme to the wider public and allow them to engage in one of sport's fastest-growing industries.
The addition of the EFAI Cup will give the wider public a great opportunity to get involved in the games and having Virgin Media alongside us will help us amplify this as well as the Virgin Media ELOI and ENational Team for the FAI to an even wider audience.
